AI to redefine tourism with sustainability: CUHP Registrar

Dharamshala, Sep 23 (UNI) The School of Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Management (SOTTHM) of Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CUHP) organised a street play and heritage rally here on Wednesday as part of its week-long CHARAIVETI-2026 celebrations marking World Tourism Day.
The third-day programme was based on the global theme “Digital Agenda & AI Redesigning Tourism” and aimed at creating public awareness about technology-enabled and sustainable tourism.
SOTTHM students staged a street play highlighting the role of Artificial Intelligence, virtual reality, smart itineraries, digital payments and data-driven hospitality in improving tourist experiences while preserving the human element.
A heritage rally, flagged off by CUHP Registrar Prof Narender Sankhyan, saw participation of more than 130 students and faculty members. The rally covered the historic Akashwani Building, War Memorial, Kotwali Bazar and other heritage sites, where students explained their historical and architectural significance and stressed the need for their conservation.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Sankhyan appreciated SOTTHM's efforts to connect the World Tourism Day theme with public awareness.
He said digital transformation and AI would significantly reshape tourism by improving efficiency, visitor experience and service quality, with sustainability at its core.
The celebrations will continue with workshops, expert talks and cultural programmes till World Tourism Day.
