Air Force day celebrated in Manipur

Imphal, Oct 8 (UNI) Students should draw inspiration from the armed forces and consider joining the service, which offers a life of discipline, honour, adventure and selfless service to the nation, stated Khumukcham Joykisan Singh, MLA, while speaking at the 94th Air Force Day celebration held today on the theme Infallible, Impervious and Precise.
The celebration was organised by 1 Manipur Air Squadron NCC Imphal at MPP Hall, NCC Imphal, GP HQ.
Khumukcham Joykisan Singh stated that October 8 is observed across the nation as Air Force Day to commemorate the establishment of the Indian Air Force and honour the air warriors who have served the nation.
He said that the Indian Air Force was officially established on October 8, 1932, and has since transformed from its humble beginnings into one of the most powerful, highly skilled and technologically advanced air forces in the world. He further said that the Indian Air Force, equipped with fighter jets, transport aircraft, helicopters and sophisticated defence systems, stands as the fourth-largest air force in the world.
He said that the Indian Air Force has demonstrated its capability and heroism during major conflicts, including the wars of 1947, 1965 and 1971 and the Kargil War of 1999. He added that during times of peace and crisis, the force often serves as a first responder, whether during floods and earthquakes or in evacuating Indian citizens stranded in conflict zones.
He also highlighted its humanitarian relief missions, which provide rescue and assistance during critical situations. He stated that the motto 'Touch the Sky with Glory' is not merely a slogan but a vision embodied by every man and woman in uniform.
He called upon all to pay tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty and expressed gratitude to all serving air warriors and their families for their sacrifices in keeping the nation strong and secure.
Speaking on the occasion, Wing Commander Mutum Sandip Singh, Commanding Officer, 1 Manipur Air Squadron NCC Imphal, stated that Indian Air Force Day is not merely a celebration but also an occasion to remember and pay tribute to the brave men and women who have served the nation with unwavering dedication. He said that from defending the nation's skies during times of conflict to providing humanitarian assistance and disaster relief during times of crisis, the Indian Air Force has consistently risen to every challenge with courage and determination.
He paid deep respect to the fallen heroes whose supreme sacrifices continue to inspire generations of air warriors and acknowledged the invaluable contributions of veterans and their families, whose dedication and sacrifices have strengthened the proud legacy of the Indian Air Force. He stated that the Indian Air Force has continuously evolved with changing times by embracing modern technology, innovation and advanced operational capabilities while preserving its core values of integrity, service and excellence.
He called upon all to renew their commitment to the ideals that have guided the Indian Air Force and expressed gratitude to every Indian warrior and their families for their service and sacrifices in the defence of the nation.
The programme featured videos, highlighting the inspiring journey of the Indian Air Force. Cultural performances, including songs and dances, were also presented.
Brigadier Vikrant Kulkarni, Group Commander, NCC Group Headquarters Imphal; Group Captain Binoy Chongtham (Retd.); Nancy Sharma, CTO, Jawahar Navodaya; air veterans; officers; staff members Vidyalaya, Khumbong; and cadets were among those present.
