AP: Home Minister Anitha inaugurates renovated sub jail in Tuni

Kakinada, July 2 (UNI) Andhra Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha said the government was making efforts to reform the prisoners and as part of that is entrusting them with the job of maintaining petrol bunks, shops and cafeteria in the jail premises.
Inaugurating the renovated sub jail and also the adjacent HPCL petrol bunk at Tuni town today, she said that a total of four petrol bunks were inaugurated in Rajahmundry region, three itself in Rajahmundry and the fourth in Tuni town.
All the petrol bunks will be managed by the prisoners themselves.
The idea was that after release from the Jail post completion of their punishment term, they will be able to start a new life by self-employment by starting a small business or working in hotels and business establishments honorably, she added.
Referring to the law and order situation, she claimed that the alliance government was making every effort to ensure peace and tranquility so that developmental works and welfare schemes could be implemented effectively on equal footing.
She blamed the previous YSRCP government for letting loose the lawlessness and using the police for its selfish ends.
The Home Minister further claimed that now priority was accorded for CC Camera surveillance and all over the state and as many as one lakh CC cameras were being installed.
In Vijayawada Commissionerate alone 7,500 CC cameras were functioning. When asked about the misuse of police against political rivals, she said it was done in the previous YSRCP regime but not now.
The police are government servants and act according to law but not at the dictates of elected public representatives, she added.
DGP jails and correctional services Anjani Kumar, Kakinada district SP Garikipati Bindu Madhav, local MLA Yanamala Divya, Municipal chairperson Narla Bhuvana Sundari were among those who attended.
