Azam Khan arrested by ED after his release from Rampur jail

Rampur, Oct 31 (UNI) In a turn of events, Samajwadi Party leader Mohammad Azam Khan was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate ( ED) after he along with his son Abdullah Azam was released from Rampur jail on Saturday night.
Azam Khan, who was released from jail after being granted bail in two PAN card cases, was taken away by a team of the Enforcement Directorate (ED). His son, Abdullah Azam, was released and left for his home.
SP leader Azam Khan came out of Rampur jail after 11 months with his son Abdullah, but Azam was arrested by the ED from the jail gate itself.
Enforcement Directorate (ED) officers first questioned Azam outside the jail, then took him away in their car.
The ED will produce him before a Ghaziabad court.
Before his arrest, there was a long heated discussion between the ED and Azam Khan.
Azam emotionally alleged, "What is there to say now? This is the punishment for being a Muslim. The mistake is that a Muslim established the university. This is our crime."
About 15 minutes before Azam's release, an ED team entered the jail.
Twenty-four CRPF personnel were also deployed outside to control the supporters of Azam.
Seeing Azam Khan leave with the ED team, anger spread among his supporters and they raised slogans against the ED's action.
On Thursday, the Allahabad High Court granted bail to Azam Khan and Abdullah Azam in the two PAN card cases.
The court had imposed the condition that they deposit half the fine and submit two sureties of Rs 50,000 each.
On Friday, Azam Khan deposited half the fine of Rs 2.50 lakh and two sureties of Rs 1 lakh.
