Bengal: Fake affidavit racket busted at Burdwan Court premises; four arrested

Burdwan, Oct 7 (UNI) Police busted a major racket inside the Court premises here, where fake affidavits were allegedly prepared using forged signatures and seals of Judicial and Executive Magistrates.
Four persons — Vivekananda Ghosh alias Raja, Totan Das, Ratul Pal and Kishore Juin — have been arrested. Police seized several fake rubber stamps, non-judicial stamp papers bearing forged seals and Rs 50,520 in cash from their possession.
Police said they received a tip-off on Tuesday evening that fake affidavits were being prepared at a photocopying shop in the Burdwan Court premises using forged seals of Judges. A team raided the shop and caught the four red-handed. Non-judicial stamp papers and rubber stamps bearing the names of respective Courts and Magistrates were also recovered from the table.
Investigation revealed that Vivekananda, an employee of the shop, was the mastermind. Totan made the fake stamps, while Ratul and Kishore brought customers and handled the money.
Shop owner Ahindra Konar lodged a complaint, stating that the racket was being run without his knowledge and that he was threatened with death when he asked them to vacate the premises. UNI KS NST
