Bengal to convert ESI hospital into a Medical College, says CM Adhikari

Durgapur, Nov 5 (UNI) The day the new Bengal government declared it's industrial policy, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said that the state has set to introduce another state-run medical college in West Burdwan.
Adhikari was addressing the crowd late this evening after inauguration of Kali Puja of Newton Young Corner club within the Durgapur Steel Township. He was accompanied by his cabinet colleagues Agnimitra Paul and Ajoy Poddar. Within yards, he also inaugurated another Kali Puja of Amra Ko'jon club in B-Zone of the Township.
Adhikari said: "After 50 years Bengal has further attained the status of having a 'double-engine' government, which was possible by the people's mandate." "So", he said, adding: "We need to harvest the true benefit of this. A bunch of investments to rejuvenate the steel sector are on the pipeline." Besides, he said: "This industrial belt has also emerged as a health hub. But, West Burdwan is among the four Bengal districts that doesn't have a government run medical college."
Adhikari said: "We have already set to introduce a state run medical college amalgamating with the ESI hospital here." Labour Minister of former Mamata Bannerjee government Moloy Ghatak incidentally had made attempts to convert the sprawling ESI hospital infrastructure into a medical college, which however didn't prosper. Adhikari said today: "We shall make it done." UNI KS CDS
