BJD alleges poll manipulation, seeks CEC’s resignation

Bhubaneswar, Oct 5 (UNI) The Opposition BJD on Monday stepped up its attack on Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, with party leaders Dr Lekhashree Samantsinghar and Dr Lenin Mohanty demanding his resignation over the controversy surrounding the modified Form 6.
The demand came after a Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant clarified during a hearing that “any modified Form 6 has not been approved by us” and said it wanted to examine the records to determine who had made the changes.
The clarification followed a September 26 Election Commission statement saying that the declaration attached to Form 6 for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) had been “upheld” by the Supreme Court.
The BJD leaders alleged that Kumar should take moral responsibility for the ECI’s earlier claim and resign. They also alleged that similar manipulation, including possible EVM tampering, could have occurred during the 2024 general elections in Odisha to favour a particular political party. The allegations were not accompanied by evidence. UNI MK CDS
