BJP staging 'Save Constitution' drama as Modi-Shah get Rahul Gandhi nightmares: Maha Congress

Mumbai, Nov 2 (UNI) Maharashtra Congress Committee President Harshwardhan Sapkal here today said that the BJP has begun staging 'Save Constitution' dramas on the streets to confuse people after Prime Minister Narendra Modi and union Home Minister Amit Shah see Rahul Gandhi in their nightmares, after the Ramlila Maidan rally.
"Why is the BJP so afraid of the colour red? Rahul Gandhi simply displayed the Constitution drafted by Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar. This panic among the BJP is a sign of the ground slipping from under its feet. After the vote theft was found out, BJP leaders have begun to make absurd statements. Why are BJP leaders, who used to ridicule Rahul Gandhi, so worried today? It seems Modi and Shah now see Rahul Gandhi in their nightmares," he said.
Sapkal further said that recently retired judges have openly revealed that the BJP government's interference in the judiciary has increased significantly. The Election Commission's functioning has been utterly disappointing.
"The BJP launched the 400-plus seats slogan during the Lok Sabha elections with the intention of changing the Constitution. Many BJP leaders openly declared at public meetings that they would change the Constitution after coming to power. Fadnavis has conveniently forgotten this truth," he recalled.
The MPCC chief asked why the BJP gets so troubled by a red-covered copy of the Constitution which Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi displayed in the Lok Sabha.
"Allegations made by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis against the Congress for conspiring to change the Constitution and democracy are ridiculous because the real killers of democracy and the Constitution are the BJP and its parent organisation RSS, which has never accepted the Constitution of India drafted by Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar," he said.
Sapkal said that BJP leaders have openly talked about changing the Constitution of India several times.
"The BJP speaks about the Constitution with its mouth and keeps the Manusmriti in its heart. Therefore, the BJP's 'Save Democracy Save Constitution' is like the thief blaming the policeman," MPCC chief said.
Sapkal further said that despite being in power for 13 years, the BJP still blames Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi for all problems, without disclosing what exactly the BJP achieved during its rule.
"Both the Modi government and the Fadnavis governments came to power by stealing votes in the 2024 elections. Their vote theft has now been exposed. Now, not only are they about to lose power, they are also losing their sleep fearing its repercussions, after they get ousted from power. With the help of CEC Gyanesh Kumar, the Modi-Shah BJP government deprived 130 million citizens of their right to vote, which has been guaranteed by the Constitution," he said.
"The RSS and the BJP talk about infiltrators, but never disclose how many such infiltrators they have identified and caught. If Fadnavis has the courage, he should make these figures of infiltrators public. Do not take away the ordinary citizens' right to vote. In a democracy, regime change happens through elections and political parties work for this very purpose. Then why are Modi, Shah and Fadnavis so afraid of a change in government," Sapkal said.
During Prime Minister Narendra Modi's tenure, attempts are being made to hijack democracy by seizing control of all constitutional institutions.
"Constitutional institutions and universities are being effectively controlled by appointing individuals affiliated with the RSS and the BJP. The Election Commission does not even issue notices to the ruling party," he added.
