Cavouright P Marak sworn in as Meghalaya Lokayukta

Shillong, May 30 (UNI) Retired Indian Forest Service official Cavouright P Marak was sworn in as the Lokayukta of Meghalaya on Friday.
Governor Chandrashekhar H Vijayashankar administered the oath of secrecy to Marak at Raj Bhavan in Shillong in the presence of Chief Secretary and senior government officials.
Marak was a former Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Territorial). Following his retirement as a civil servant, he took on various other roles.
Prior to his appointment as Lokayukta Chief, Marak was the Executive Chairman of Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) and was also a member of the Meghalaya State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission.
Governor Vijayashankar congratulated Marak and expressed confidence in his ability to uphold the values of justice, integrity, fairness and strengthen the institutional mechanisms of transparency, accountability and corruption-free within the state.
