CJP protest won't spill over into Meghalaya, says Deputy CM Dhar

Shillong, Oct 12 (UNI) Deputy Chief Minister in-charge of Urban Affairs Sniawbhalang Dhar today said that the ongoing protest by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) will not spill over into Meghalaya.
The CJP is demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities and vote manipulation in the Election Commission of India's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
“This is a central issue. I think the government will handle it properly at the central level. I don’t think it will impact the youth of the state,” Dhar said while responding to reporters when asked about the possible impact of the CJP protest on the state’s youth.
Dhar, who is also the general secretary of the NPP, an ally of the BJP, refused to comment on the CJP’s demand to remove Kumar as CEC, stating that the central government will address the matter.
“Why should I give on its (central government) behalf?” he countered.
When asked if the youth of the state might align with the CJP, Dhar expressed unwavering faith in the state's youth, calling them highly intelligent individuals who understand the path ahead.
He emphasised that the government stands firmly behind them, leaving no room for concern regarding external political influence. UNI RRK SS
