Haryana minister Panwar announces cleanliness drive across all Panchkula villages

Panchkula, Sep 19 (UNI) Haryana Development and Panchayats Minister Krishan Lal Panwar on Saturday announced a district-wide cleanliness campaign covering all villages of Panchkula, saying sanitation must become a public movement rather than remain confined to government programmes.
Panwar made the announcement after joining a cleanliness drive at the Mata Mansa Devi Temple complex under the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’. He swept the market area near the temple's main entrance, collected waste and disposed of it in dustbins.
He directed officials to carry out a special cleanliness drive across the entire temple complex, saying devotees coming from different places should be provided clean and hygienic surroundings.
“A comprehensive cleanliness drive will soon be launched across Panchkula district, with cleanliness activities being undertaken simultaneously in all villages,” Panwar said.
The minister said improving sanitation in rural and urban areas required active participation from residents.
“Cleanliness is not merely a government campaign; it is the responsibility of every citizen,” he said. “A clean and healthy society can be built only when people resolve to keep their surroundings clean.”
Panchkula Mayor Shyam Lal Bansal, Deputy Commissioner Satpal Sharma, Haryana State Commission for Scheduled Castes Chairperson Banto Kataria, Mata Mansa Devi Shrine Board CEO Vivek Arya, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Vinay Kumar and other officials and public representatives participated in the drive. Panwar also planted a sapling at Tikona Park in the temple complex and urged people to plant and nurture at least one tree under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign.
