Delhi BJP hits out at Saurabh Bharadwaj over alleged ‘double standards’ on encroachment issue

New Delhi, Sep 24 (UNI) Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor on Thursday accused AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj of adopting “double political standards” over allegations concerning encroachment on government land and asked him to first take action against his party’s former MLA Dayanand Chandela.
Kapoor alleged that since the September 6 Satya Niketan building collapse, Bharadwaj had been targeting a BJP MLA over a building constructed by the MLA’s family on private land, while remaining silent on the alleged occupation of a Delhi government property by Chandela, a former AAP MLA.
The BJP spokesperson referred to a recent case involving a choupal building constructed on Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) land near the Khiala village cemetery, which, he alleged, had been occupied by Chandela.
Kapoor claimed that when a government team reached the site to vacate the premises, Chandela allegedly locked the property from inside and attacked a staff member with a stick when the official attempted to cut the lock.
He further alleged that Chandela subsequently stood naked at a window, following which the government team returned from the site.
“If Saurabh Bharadwaj is making allegations against a BJP MLA, he should first ask his own former MLA Dayanand Chandela to either vacate the alleged encroachment on government land or quit the AAP,” Kapoor said.
He termed the alleged conduct of AAP leaders “condemnable” and said the people of Delhi disapproved of such political conduct.
