Police file FIR in alleged eve-teasing incident of college student in North Campus

New Delhi, Sep 24 (UNI) The Delhi Police have registered a case at the Mukherjee Nagar Police station following a complaint by a girl student of a college in the North Campus over alleged eve- teasing near the Hakikat Park, a police official said on Thursday.
According to police, the incident occurred on Wednesday night at around 9.30 pm, when two female students of a college in the North Campus were going somewhere, and four young men arrived in a car, one of them identified as a student of Delhi University.
According to the complainant, the group used abusive language and misbehaved with them.
Taking cognizance of the matter, based on the statement given by the victim, the initial probe was done, and legal action has been initiated.
The alleged accused have been identified, and action is being taken as per details provided by the complainant.
The officer said that appropriate steps are being taken in the matter, and investigation is being carried out as per the sequence of places the students visited.
During enquiry, the alleged vehicle used has been traced to its registered owner, and it was revealed that apart from the driver, there were two-three others in the car.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Police, North West District, Akanksha Yadav, in her message to girl students and women has said that the police is there for their service and protection, and whatever issue and problems they face, they can bring it to the police without any hesitation and fear.
The police official assured that swift and relevant action will be taken in the matters brought to them, as making Delhi safe for women is among the top priorities.
She said that the police teams are working to ensure safety of women and children, assuring complete support.
Meanwhile, police personnel conducted foot patrolling and intensive checking across all the police station areas of North-West District, covering parks, sensitive locations and other vulnerable spots.
Visible police presence was strengthened to maintain a close watch on suspicious activities, deter anti-social elements and reinforce preventive policing measures.
The initiative aimed at enhancing public safety, strengthening area domination and fostering a greater sense of security among citizens.
Notably, the North Campus incident comes close on the heels of the September 21 gangrape of a 17-year-old girl by three men posing as police personnel in a park near the Kalkaji Mandir in Southeast Delhi.
