Does Rahul Gandhi’s 'Mohabbat Ki Dukaan' have room for 1984 riots?’: Nayab Singh Saini targets Congress

Panchkula, Oct 29 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday accused the Congress of trying to vitiate the political atmosphere, questioning its “Mohabbat Ki Dukaan” slogan by invoking the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and incidents of violence against Dalit families in Haryana during Congress rule.
Referring to Rahul Gandhi’s proposed November 1 event, Saini asked whether the Congress leader would address the 1984 riots as part of his message of love and harmony.
“Does Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Mohabbat Ki Dukaan’ also have a shop for the 1984 riots? Will he speak about it?” Saini asked.
The Chief Minister also referred to incidents in Haryana, alleging that shops and homes had been burnt and Dalit families had suffered arson during Congress rule.
“Is this what Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Mohabbat Ki Dukaan’ stands for?” Saini asked, challenging the Congress to explain how its slogan of love and brotherhood reconciled with the incidents he cited.
His remarks came amid a political confrontation over the Congress’ proposed November 1 rally and its message of social harmony.
