Paddy Procurement from 15 November 2026 to 15 January 2027; Extensive Preparations Underway in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, Oct 30 (UNI) The Chhattisgarh Government has taken an important step towards making paddy procurement for the Kharif Marketing Year 2026–27 more convenient, transparent and farmer-friendly. Paddy procurement will begin on November 15 and continue until January 15.
The state government has approved 360 new paddy procurement centres to reduce distance farmers need to travel, reduce unnecessary waiting at procurement centres and enable more farmers to sell their produce in less time. With this, the number of paddy procurement centres in the state has increased from 2,740 to 3,100.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that respecting farmers’ hard work and improving facilities for them are among the state government’s key priorities. All necessary arrangements are being made to ensure that farmers face no unnecessary difficulties during paddy procurement.
He said that the approval of new procurement centres is intended not merely to increase their number, but to make the entire paddy sale process simpler, more accessible and more convenient for farmers.
The approval of 360 new procurement centres will substantially expand the state’s paddy procurement network. Once operational, the new centres will enable farmers to sell paddy in their villages or nearby areas. This will reduce the need to transport paddy to distant procurement centres and help save on transport costs.
The new centres will also ease pressure on existing centres where large numbers of farmers have led to crowding and long waits. Distributing farmers across different centres will help ensure orderly weighing, quality testing and completion of other necessary procedures.
The decision will reduce the time farmers spend selling their produce, allowing them more time for agricultural work and other essential activities. Small and marginal farmers, in particular, are expected to benefit.
More than two lakh registered farmers will benefit directly from the 360 new paddy procurement centres approved in the state. These farmers will be able to obtain tokens through the new centres and sell their paddy within the stipulated period.
The operation of the new centres will increase paddy procurement capacity. Simultaneous procurement at more centres will enable paddy from a larger number of farmers to be purchased within the prescribed period. This will reduce farmers’ dependence on existing centres and unnecessary waiting to sell their produce.
The state government is working to ensure a procurement system that requires farmers to travel shorter distances and allows them to sell their produce smoothly.
The state government has fixed the paddy procurement period for the Kharif Marketing Year 2026–27 from 15 November 2026 to 15 January 2027. Paddy will be procured from registered farmers in the state during this period.
Special attention is being given to completing the necessary preparations at procurement centres before purchases begin, so that farmers have access to well-organised facilities from the outset.
The approval of new centres will help decentralise procurement further. Instead of farmers gathering at a limited number of centres, paddy procurement will be conducted simultaneously across different centres.
Online tokens will be available through the ‘Tunhar Token’ mobile app this year as well, to reduce farmers’ repeated visits to societies and the need to stand in long queues for tokens to sell paddy.
Farmers will be able to obtain tokens for paddy sales from home using their mobile phones. The service will be available 24 hours a day, allowing them to obtain tokens at their convenience without having to visit a society during specified hours.
The online token system will also help farmers prepare for paddy sales in advance. They will be able to plan the transport and sale of their paddy according to the allotted date. This will help reduce unnecessary crowding at procurement centres and keep procurement orderly.
The state government has placed special emphasis on advance preparations for the smooth operation of the paddy procurement system. As part of these preparations, a trial run will be conducted at societies from 2nd to 5th November 2026. Token-related procedures and the necessary technical arrangements will be tested during this period to identify and resolve potential problems before actual procurement begins.
Tokens will be available to farmers from 10th November giving them sufficient time to prepare for paddy procurement.
An important objective of establishing new procurement centres is to reduce the additional expenses farmers incur while selling paddy.
Farmers have to arrange transport to take their paddy to distant procurement centres. Longer distances increase both transport costs and travel time. The availability of nearby centres will provide relief on both counts.
Similarly, reduced crowding at procurement centres will spare farmers long waits to sell their paddy, saving them time and effort.
The state government aims to ensure that farmers receive the prescribed price for their paddy while also being spared unnecessary expenses and difficulties during the sale process. Special attention is also being given to ensuring timely payments after procurement, in accordance with the prescribed procedure.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that Chhattisgarh’s farmers form a strong foundation of the state’s economy. The paddy they grow through their hard work contributes significantly to the state’s prosperity. It is therefore essential to provide them with a simple, transparent and reliable system for selling their produce.
He said that the government’s efforts extend beyond ensuring a fair price for farmers’ produce to making the entire paddy sale process convenient. The approval of 360 new procurement centres, online token facilities and testing of arrangements before procurement are important initiatives towards this objective.
Chief Minister Sai said that the government is firmly resolved to ensure that no farmer in the state faces unnecessary difficulties in selling paddy. Farmers’ time, effort and money should be saved, and their hard work should receive due recognition. He said that the government is committed to making the entire paddy procurement process farmer-friendly and ensuring a convenient and satisfactory experience for every farmer. UNI SRC CDS
