Dr S. Jaishankar meets Bhutan PM, hands over EVs under development assistance

Siliguri, Sep 17 (UNI) India’s External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar on Thursday called on Bhutanese Prime Minister Dasho Tshering Tobgay as part of his official visit to Bhutan from September 16 to 18.
The meeting covered a range of matters of mutual interest and highlighted the close and longstanding ties of friendship and cooperation between Bhutan and India, official sources said.
During his visit, Dr Jaishankar handed over electric vehicles (EVs) to Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay under India’s Project Tied Assistance (PTA). Forty-five EVs had earlier been handed over to Bhutan in July under the same project.
On Wednesday, India and Bhutan also marked progress in several areas of development cooperation, including hydropower, healthcare, road connectivity and livestock development.
Dr Jaishankar and Bhutan’s Foreign Affairs and External Trade Minister D.N. Dhungyel jointly unveiled plaques for three development projects in Bumthang and handed over 43 pure Jersey cows as part of cooperation in livestock development.
The visit comes as India and Bhutan continue to strengthen their bilateral partnership through development assistance and cooperation across multiple sectors. UNI MBN NST CDS
