End of an Era: Veteran Actor Nana Patekar passes away at 75 due to cardiac arrest in Goa

Mumbai, Oct 8 (UNI) The sudden demise of veteran actor Nana Patekar has plunged the Indian film fraternity into profound grief.
The iconic powerhouse of talent passed away at the age of 75 early Thursday morning at his residence in Dona Paula, Goa, after suffering a massive cardiac arrest.
Patekar suffered a severe heart attack at his Goa home. Despite immediate medical intervention and prolonged resuscitation efforts, he could not be revived and was declared dead.
Spanning over five decades, his illustrious career defined excellence in both Hindi and Marathi cinema. Renowned for his intense dialogue delivery and unmatched gravitas, he delivered iconic performances in landmark films like Parinda, Krantiveer, Prahar, and Natasamrat.
Beyond the silver screen, Patekar was deeply devoted to public welfare. Alongside actor Makarand Anaspure, he co-founded the Naam Foundation, playing a transformative, hands-on role in rural Maharashtra by aiding drought-hit farmers, driving water conservation projects, and supporting families of distressed agriculturists.
Political leaders and peers from the film industry expressed their devastation and shared heartfelt tributes.
Nitin Gadkari (Union Minister): Described Patekar's passing as a personal loss and a massive blow to the entertainment world, highlighting his monumental contributions to cinema and rural development through the Naam Foundation.
Devendra Fadnavis (Chief Minister): Recalled the actor's fierce patriotism on screen contrasted with his deeply compassionate, soft-hearted nature off-screen, particularly noting his active participation in the Jalyukt Shivar campaign.
Sunetra Pawar (Deputy Chief Minister): Mourned the loss of an "acting titan", emphasising how his brilliant performances and relentless commitment to marginalised and farming communities will forever remain a source of inspiration.
Sharad Pawar (Veteran Leader): Stated that Patekar's demise marks the end of an extraordinary, sensitive, and deeply impactful chapter in Indian cinema, balancing a legendary artistic career with active social responsibility.
Rohit Pawar (MLA) expressed shock and deep sorrow, noting that Patekar’s artistic brilliance matched his profound empathy for the common man.
