FIR Against CJP Organisers, 400-500 Supporters For Unauthorised Protest At Shivaji Park

Mumbai, Oct 3 (UNI) Mumbai Police on Saturday registered an FIR against organisers of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and 400 to 500 unidentified supporters for holding an unauthorised protest at Shivaji Park in Dadar in Central Mumbai on October 2.
Police said the accused gathered without permission at Gate No. 6 of Shivaji Park ground, in front of Meenatai Thackeray Memorial, between 4 pm and 7 pm on Friday.
Cases have been registered under Sections 189(2) - unlawful assembly and 223 - disobedience of lawful order of public servant of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 37(1), 37(3), 135 of Maharashtra Police Act. No arrest has been made so far. Further probe is underway.
Those named include CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka, Saurav Das, Ajinkya Shinde, Pranay Ahire, Afreen Nawaz, Soumya Korde, Ankit Bhardwaj, Vijay Malangi and Yogesh Ingale, police said.
CJP, founded by activist Abhijeet Dipke and styling itself as Cockroach Janta Party, had sought permission to hold protest at Shivaji Park on Oct0ber 2. Police had denied permission on September 27 citing Bombay High Court order in PIL 116/2009 dated Jan 4, 2013 which declared Shivaji Park as silence zone and restricted non-sporting activities, and a subsequent state government order.
Despite denial, CJP announced 'Jail Bharo Andolan - Season 2', demanding resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and functioning of Election Commission.
On Friday, despite heavy deployment and barricades, supporters gathered raising slogans against Centre and ECI and used loudspeakers without permission, police said. Complaint was also lodged by local residents' advocate Siddhi Deolekar citing violation of High Court order.
A similar protest was held at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on the same day where police detained over 700 persons. In Mumbai, police said no detention was made during the protest.
