Former Tripura CM Manik Sarkar comes under attack

Agartala, Sep 27 (UNI) Former Tripura Chief Minister and veteran CPI(M) leader Manik Sarkar faced an attack on his convoy in Bamutia, on the northern fringes of the city, on Sunday morning.
CPI(M) MLA from Bamutia, Nayan Sarkar, claimed that BJP members suddenly stopped Sarkar's convoy in the Kalibazar area, vandalised his escort vehicles, and threw eggs at his car.
Thankfully, Sarkar remained unharmed, and CPI(M) supporters were escorted to their party office safely. BJP Spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharjee refuted the allegations, asserting that BJP workers were not involved.
He suggested that the incident could have been a spontaneous reaction from people who had grievances from the 25 years of Left Front rule.
As Manik Sarkar was on his way to a CPI(M) organisational conference in Bamutia, the convoy was allegedly blocked for 40 minutes by a group protesting against him and demanding he turn back.
CPI(M) sources reported damage to one of the escort vehicles during the incident.
The party stated that tensions ran high for a significant time as the convoy was impeded. Supporters of the CPI(M) gathered at the scene to express their disapproval of the alleged attack.
They claim that after resistance from CPI(M) supporters, the assailants eventually left, allowing Sarkar to attend the event.
CPI(M) State Secretary and Leader of Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury voiced concerns over the state's political climate and urged Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha to take steps to ensure normalcy, advising against following a political vendetta path like his predecessor Biplab Kumar Deb. UNI BB SAS
