Gandhi Week to be held in Pune from October 1 to 7

Pune, Sep 29 (UNI) The Maharashtra Gandhi Memorial Fund and Yuvak Kranti Dal will jointly organise a week-long programme on Mahatma Gandhi at Gandhi Bhavan, Kothrud, from October 1 to 7.
The 15th edition of the annual event, initiated by late Dr Kumar Saptarshi, will feature lectures, discussions, cultural programmes and films focusing on Gandhi's thoughts, social movements, democracy, environment and contemporary issues, organisers said at a press conference on Tuesday.
The week will be inaugurated on October 1 by senior journalist and writer Ambarish Mishra, who will deliver a lecture on 'Ek Thhemb Gandhi' following an interfaith prayer.
Gandhi Jayanti and International Day of Non-Violence will be observed on October 2 with prayers and bhajans, followed by a peace march from Makkeshah Masjid and Panchaleshwar Temple in Deccan to Gandhi Bhavan.
Other programmes include lectures on social movements and challenges before youth, a magic show, a panel discussion on challenges before democracy, a documentary presentation, and a lecture on environmental issues. The concluding programme on October 7 will feature a session of thought-provoking poetry.
Several speakers and participants, including Tushar Gandhi, Vivek Sawant, Sushma Andhare, Madhav Bhandari, Vikas Lawande, Prashant Jagtap, Atul Deulgaonkar and others, will take part in the programmes. UNI SP CDS

Nashik Collector forms probe panel to investigate irregularities in onion procurement

Nashik, Sep 29 (UNI) The Nashik district administration has invited complaints from onion farmers, farmer producer organisations, traders and other stakeholders regarding alleged irregularities and mismanagement in the onion procurement process for the 2026–27 season.
The Maharashtra government’s Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection has constituted an inquiry committee under the chairmanship of Nashik District Collector Ayush Prasad through a government resolution dated September 29, 2026.
