Nashik Collector forms probe panel to investigate irregularities in onion procurement

Nashik, Sep 29 (UNI) The Nashik district administration has invited complaints from onion farmers, farmer producer organisations, traders and other stakeholders regarding alleged irregularities and mismanagement in the onion procurement process for the 2026–27 season.
The Maharashtra government’s Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection has constituted an inquiry committee under the chairmanship of Nashik District Collector Ayush Prasad through a government resolution dated September 29, 2026.
The procurement process is being conducted under the Price Stabilisation Fund (PSF) scheme of the union Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, through the central nodal agencies NAFED and NCCF.
The committee has been formed following complaints received from public representatives, onion-growing farmers and farmer producer organisations alleging irregularities and mismanagement during the procurement process.
It will conduct an objective inquiry into the allegations and recommend necessary action based on its findings.
The committee comprises the concerned Sub-Divisional Officer, the respective Tehsildar, a person nominated by the District Collector and the District Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Nashik, who will serve as its Member Secretary.
Onion farmers, farmer producer organisations, traders and other concerned citizens who have information regarding irregularities, mismanagement or any other issues related to onion procurement have been asked to submit written complaints to the office of the District Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Nashik, within one week.
Complainants have been urged to attach relevant evidence, documents and other supporting information to their submissions.
This will enable the inquiry committee to verify the allegations objectively and conduct its investigation based on facts.
District Collector Ayush Prasad has appealed to all stakeholders to make use of this opportunity and submit their complaints and available information within the stipulated deadline.
