Ganesh idol immersion: Kangra admin advises devotees to use designated sites

Kangra, Sep 18 (UNI) The Kangra sub-divisional administration has issued a public advisory for the immersion of Ganesh idols, urging devotees, festival committees and organisers to prioritise public safety, discipline and environmental protection.
SDM Kangra Dr Anjali Garg appealed to devotees and festival committees to immerse idols only at designated and identified sites. Mini Haridwar and Ban Ganga have been earmarked as designated immersion points, and devotees have been advised to use the nearest authorised site and avoid unauthorised rivulets and water sources.
She said organisers must follow the routes and timings prescribed by the administration and police during processions and immersion activities to ensure safety and smooth traffic movement.
Devotees have also been advised not to cross barricades or enter deep, unsafe or fast-flowing water.
Dr Garg said maintaining the cleanliness of natural water sources and protecting the environment was a collective responsibility. She urged people not to throw plastic, thermocol, polythene, decorative materials, clothes, puja articles or any other waste into water bodies.
All organisers have been directed to ensure cleanliness at immersion sites and along procession routes after the events.
The SDM also appealed to Ganesh festival committees and organisers to maintain discipline among devotees and cooperate with the police, administration, Home Guards, Aapda Mitras and other concerned departments.
She urged people to celebrate Ganesh festival with devotion and enthusiasm while giving due importance to public safety, discipline, cleanliness and environmental protection.
