Haryana ACB traps two officials taking bribes in Faridabad, Gurugram; ₹32,000 seized

Panchkula, Sep 18 (UNI) Haryana's State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV&ACB) on Friday arrested two officials in separate trap operations in Faridabad and Gurugram while they were allegedly accepting bribes of ₹20,000 and ₹12,000, respectively, the bureau said.
In Faridabad, the SV&ACB arrested Rahul Tyagi, a clerk posted in the office of the Registrar, Firms and Societies-cum-District Industries Centre, while he was allegedly accepting ₹20,000 for providing financial records relating to the previous tenure of a residents' welfare forum.

According to the bureau, Tyagi initially allegedly demanded ₹60,000, which was later negotiated down to ₹45,000.
The complainant, a resident of Sector 16, had applied on September 15 for financial records covering nearly eight years of the forum's previous tenure. When he visited the office on September 16, Tyagi allegedly demanded money for providing the records quickly.
Following verification of the complaint, the bureau laid a trap and arrested Tyagi while he was allegedly accepting ₹20,000 as an advance.
The bribe money was recovered from his possession, the SV&ACB said.
An FIR was registered against him at the SV&ACB police station in Faridabad under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
In a separate trap in Gurugram, the bureau arrested Pawan Kumar, a computer operator engaged through the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam (HKRN) in the engineering branch of the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram, while he was allegedly accepting ₹12,000 from a contractor.
The contractor had undertaken renovation of a cremation ground at a cost of around ₹28 lakh and claimed to have completed about 90 per cent of the work.
According to the complaint, ₹92,000 was allegedly demanded for clearing a bill of about ₹23 lakh. The contractor alleged that ₹80,000 had already been paid and he approached the bureau after being asked to pay the remaining ₹12,000.
Acting on the complaint, the SV&ACB laid a trap and arrested Pawan Kumar while he was allegedly accepting the ₹12,000, the bureau said.
A case was registered at the SV&ACB police station in Gurugram under Sections 7 and 7A of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Section 308(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The bureau said procedures prescribed under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, were followed during the two trap operations.
Further investigation is underway in both cases, the SV&ACB said.
