HP: Nurpur police seize two JCBs, tractor and five trucks in illegal mining crackdown

Nurpur, Sep 18 (UNI) Nurpur Police have launched a major crackdown on illegal mining activities, seizing two JCB machines, a tractor and five multi-axle trucks from the Chakki Khad area near Kandwal, police said on Friday.
Nurpur district superintendent of police Ilma Afroz told UNI that the action was carried out by the CIA Nurpur team on September 17 during routine patrolling and surveillance against illegal activities in the area.
She said that the team noticed heavy machinery being used for unauthorised mining in Chakki Khad near the Chakki bridge at Kandwal.
SP said that the police immediately reached the spot and took the machinery and vehicles allegedly being used for illegal mining into custody.
Ilma said that the seized equipment includes two JCB machines, one tractor and five multi-axle trucks. She said that the five trucks and two JCB machines were handed over to Nurpur Police Station for further legal proceedings.
Challans and other statutory action are being initiated under the relevant laws, police said.
The Nurpur Police said it remained committed to preventing illegal exploitation of natural resources and warned that strict legal action would continue against violators.
