Glendale Academy students win gold at Open National Taekwondo championship 2025

Hyderabad, July 1 (UNI) Glendale Academy on Tuesday said that two of its young athletes clinched Gold Medals at the Open National Taekwondo Championship 2025 held at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in the city recently.
Demonstrating grit, discipline, and exceptional skill, the students emerged victorious against strong contenders from across the country, the academy said in a release here.
Rumaisa Khalid, a Grade 7 student, competed in the Under-14 category while, and Mohammed Zayyan Khalid, a Grade 5 student, showcased his talent in the Under-12 category. Both students displayed remarkable focus, agility, and sportsmanship to secure top honours in their respective events, bringing laurels not only to the school but also to the city of Hyderabad.
The championship saw the participation of more than 350 students from Telangana and other states.
This isn’t the first time Rumaisa and Zayyan have proven their mettle. Their most recent competition was held in March- the 13th Open State Inter-School Poomsae and Kyorugi Taekwondo Competition 2025- where both students also won Gold Medals, continuing a streak of excellence.
Speaking on their achievement, Madhu Khanna, Senior Principal, Glendale Academy, said, “. This triumph is more than just a medal, it’s a testament to what young minds can achieve when passion meets purpose. At Glendale, we believe in nurturing not just students, but future leaders and champions, in classrooms, on the field, and beyond.”
Commenting on her achievement, Rumaisa Khalid, said, “Winning the gold medal at the National Championship feels like a dream come true. I trained hard every day, and this win has shown me that nothing is impossible if you stay focused and believe in yourself. I’m thankful to my coaches, teachers, and family for always supporting me.”
Mohammed Zayyan Khalid, said, “I’m really happy and proud to win the gold medal. I love Taekwondo and this victory has made me want to train even harder. Thank you to my school and everyone who believed in me, it means a lot.”
