Haryana mobilises 1,420 volunteers across 142 blocks for TB elimination drive

Panchkula, Oct 8 (UNI) Haryana has mobilised 1,420 volunteers across all 142 administrative blocks under the tuberculosis elimination campaign, completing the formation of JOSH teams in all 23 districts ahead of its inclusion in the national pilot phase, the Health Department stated on Thursday.
The mobilisation comprises 710 National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets and 710 MY Bharat volunteers, with 142 Class-I officers appointed as block nodal officers. District-level coordination committees have also been constituted across the state.
The announcement came as union Health Minister J.P. Nadda launched JOSH (Joint Squad for Health) teams nationally at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
Developed in collaboration with the Ministries of Defence and Youth Affairs and Sports, the initiative seeks to engage young volunteers in door-to-door TB awareness campaigns and community mobilisation efforts.
Although Haryana is scheduled to join the next phase of pilot states, it has completed team formation and volunteer mobilisation ahead of schedule, the department said.
A new reporting facility on the TB Mukt Bharat App will enable District TB Officers to register nodal officers and monitor volunteer activities. NCC cadets and MY Bharat volunteers will upload daily field reports for monitoring at district and national levels.
The national launch also introduced household awareness material, a JOSH Team Flip Book and an updated 'Khushi' AI chatbot to address TB-related queries.
Haryana Health Minister Arti Singh Rao attended the virtual launch along with senior health officials, including NHM Managing Director Dr R.S. Dhillon, Director General of Health Services Dr Manish Bansal and State TB Officer Dr Rajesh Raju.
Following the launch, field teams began awareness sessions, community pledges and mobilisation of panchayats, TB survivors and Ni-kshay Mitras.
The department said the reported 100 per cent coverage refers to the formation of JOSH teams and mobilisation of volunteers, not the elimination of tuberculosis or completion of household visits.
