Haryana suspends 966 drug sale licences, 12 manufacturing and blood centre licences over irregularities

Panchkula, Nov 6 (UNI) Haryana has suspended 966 drug sale licences and 12 manufacturing and blood centre licences for regulatory violations during a six-month enforcement drive, a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) spokesperson said on Friday.
The action was taken following inspections conducted by the Drug Wing between April 1 and September 30, 2026. During this period, 13,590 drug sale establishments and 423 manufacturing units were inspected. Besides the suspensions, 15 licences were cancelled completely and five partially.
The spokesperson said 2,389 drug samples were collected during the period, of which 2,189 had been tested. Eleven samples were found to be substandard.
The department also initiated prosecution in 64 cases. Of the 15 cases decided by courts during the period, eight resulted in convictions and seven in acquittals, while 462 cases remain pending.
In a coordinated crackdown with police, FDA teams conducted 376 joint raids, leading to the registration of two FIRs under the NDPS Act and four under the Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) Act.
Highlighting major enforcement actions, the spokesperson said the FDA seized counterfeit weight-loss and diabetes-control injections, falsely marketed as Mounjaro, worth approximately Rs 70 lakh in April 2026. In July, the Gurugram FDA team busted an interstate racket involved in manufacturing and selling counterfeit Telma-AM, a blood pressure medicine.
On July 28, the FDA team in Faridabad seized a large consignment of counterfeit propylene glycol following a complaint.
The department also issued 2,675 retail and wholesale drug sale licences and 20 manufacturing licences during the period. Fourteen medical institutions were granted accreditation, while two manufacturing units were upgraded to WHO-GMP standards.
