J&K: Accused nabbed as Assistant Commandant among four CISF personnel killed in fratricide incident in Kathua

Jammu, Sep 29 (UNI) An Assistant Commandant and Sub-Inspector were among four CISF personnel reportedly killed in an incident of fratricide in Basohli area of Kathua district in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday evening.
Officials said that a firing incident was reported this evening in CISF camp near Sewa Project at Mashka in Basohli.
The personnel were deployed for the security of the project.
“As per initial reports, exchange of heated words took place between the CISF personnel triggering firing,” they said.
They added that four CISF personnel including Assistant Commandant, Sub-Inspector and two jawans suffered critical injuries and were rushed to the NHPC Hospital in neighbouring Himachal Pradesh but they succumbed.
The deceased were identified as Assistant Commandant Ankit Kumar Pandey, S-I Lakshman Singh, Constable Rafiq Ahmed and Constable Sandeep Kumar.
Senior Superintendent of Police, District Kathua, Mohita Sharma confirmed about the incident.
However, they said that the accused, Head Constable Abhidesh Kumar, following an argument with some of his colleagues, allegedly resorted to firing from his service rifle.
He was overpowered and subsequently arrested while the service weapon was also seized as part of the investigation, they said.
