Joyalukkas sets two Guinness World Records with 16.5-kg gold earrings

Dubai/Kochi, Oct 25 (UNI) Popular Kerala-based jewellery chain Joyalukkas has secured two Guinness World Records titles by creating the world's heaviest pair of gold earrings and the largest pair of earrings.
The record-breaking pair of handcrafted 22-carat gold jhumkas, weighing a combined 16.514 kg, was unveiled by UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri at Jewel of Joy by Joyalukkas in Dubai Gold District on Saturday.
Named Mayura Sahasra, meaning ‘A Thousand Peacocks’, the earrings draw inspiration from the peacock, a symbol of grace and beauty in Indian tradition. The intricate designs reflect the bird's plumage and showcase the craftsmanship of the company's master artisans, who spent several months creating the traditional bell-shaped ornaments.
An official Guinness World Records adjudicator presented certificates for both titles to Joyalukkas Group Chairman Joy Alukkas and Joyalukkas Jewellery CEO John Paul Alukkas at the unveiling ceremony.
According to the company, the earrings have a net gold weight of 16.514 kg, more than five times the weight of the previous record-holder. The pair will be preserved intact and displayed permanently at the Jewel of Joy showroom in Dubai.
Joy Alukkas described the creation as a tribute to Dubai and the artisans whose craftsmanship made the achievement possible. He said the two world records marked a significant milestone for the group and dedicated the achievement to the UAE.
John Paul Alukkas said the earrings were not for sale but would serve as a major attraction for residents, tourists and jewellery enthusiasts visiting Dubai Gold District.
The unveiling ceremony was attended by Laila Mohd Suhail, member of the Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group and chair of its marketing committee; Rashid Alharmoodi, senior director-commercial at Dubai Gold District; Levy Pezulu, senior policy lead at the World Gold Council; and other dignitaries.
The record-holding earrings are on permanent public display at Jewel of Joy by Joyalukkas. Entry is free, and visitors can view the creation from 10 am to 10 pm throughout the week.
Founded by Joy Alukkas, Joyalukkas has expanded from its Kerala roots into an international jewellery retailer, operating more than 200 showrooms across 13 countries. Its markets include India, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Singapore, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia and Canada.
