Kerala Police clears 102 tonnes of waste, removes 5,115 vehicles from station premises

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 25 (UNI) The Kerala Police has removed 102.49 tonnes of waste and 5,115 unused vehicles from police station premises across the State as part of its ‘My Police Station’ project aimed at improving cleanliness and making police stations more accessible and people-friendly.
The initiative, conceived by the Home Department, seeks to transform police stations into citizen-friendly service centres where people can approach the police without hesitation and receive services efficiently, with their dignity fully respected.
The project focuses on clearing accumulated waste, discarded materials and unused vehicles to improve the appearance of police stations and provide a clean, orderly and welcoming environment for the public.
Kozhikode City recorded the highest quantity of waste removal, with 12,121 kg cleared from police station premises. Ernakulam Rural followed with 11,001.49 kg, while Thrissur City accounted for 10,901 kg.

The clean-up drive was undertaken under the SPACE (Scrap Processing for Area Cleanup and Enhancement) project, which carries the tagline ‘Reclaim, Renew, Revive’. The Kerala Police Housing and Construction Corporation Ltd (KPHCC) implemented the initiative in collaboration with CERO, a Central public sector undertaking.
A committee headed by the State Police Chief, with the Managing Director of KPHCC as a member, is overseeing the project.
ADGP (Law and Order) P. Vijayan said the drive to remove accumulated waste, discarded materials and unused vehicles from police station premises across Kerala would continue.
