Red alert in three Kerala districts on Sunday; two districts on Monday

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 25 (UNI) The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert in three districts of Kerala on Sunday and two districts on Monday, warning of extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places.
Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts are under red alert on October 25. Orange alerts have been issued for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad and Kannur districts, while Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha and Kasaragod districts are under yellow alert.

The IMD has advised fishermen not to venture into the sea along the Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep coasts until October 26.
Strong winds reaching 35 to 45 kmph, occasionally gusting up to 55 kmph, and rough sea conditions are likely along the southern Tamil Nadu coast, the Gulf of Mannar and the Kanyakumari region.
Meanwhile, the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) has warned of possible coastal flooding along the Thiruvananthapuram coast, from Kappil to Pozhiyoor, due to the Kallakkadal phenomenon.
Waves measuring 0.8 to 1.2 metres are likely along the affected coastal stretch until 11.30 pm on October 25, it said.
Fishermen and coastal residents have been advised to remain vigilant and move to safer locations in vulnerable areas as directed by authorities. The launching and landing of small boats and fishing vessels should be avoided.
All beach-related activities, including tourism, should be completely avoided along the vulnerable coastal stretches, the advisory added.
