Kolkata: Driver's body found with legs bound inside cab in Entally; mystery deepens

Kolkata, Oct 7 (UNI) The discovery of a body inside a locked app-based cab parked on DC Dey Road in Kolkata’s Entally area on Wednesday has sparked concern in the locality.
Police sources identified the deceased as 45-year-old Bhagwanprasad Gupta. Officers from Entally Police Station recovered the body and have launched an investigation into the incident.
According to police sources, the cab had been parked in front of 25, DC Dey Road, for an extended period that morning. Locals grew suspicious after noticing the vehicle remaining stationary for so long. When there was no response despite repeated calls, the locals alerted the police. Upon receiving the information, officers from Entally Police Station arrived at the scene.
Police sources stated that the cab's doors were locked from the inside. Officers found Bhagwanprasad's body lying within the vehicle; his legs were tied with a rope, and there were traces of blood on his face. Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was the driver of the cab. With the assistance of a local mechanic, the police broke the lock, while videographing the process, to retrieve the body.
The body has been sent to the hospital for a post-mortem examination. Officials from the Kolkata Police Homicide Squad, the Scientific Wing and the Detective Department have already arrived at the scene to investigate the incident.
How did the man end up inside the cab? Why was the vehicle locked from the inside? Why were Bhagwanprasad's legs tied with a rope? The police have launched an investigation to find answers to these questions.
Police sources indicate that investigators are also examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area. It remains unclear whether Bhagwanprasad had any connections to others involved, or if this was a case of suicide or something more mysterious. The police are thoroughly examining all aspects of the incident.
