Maha: 19-yr-old worker dies of electrocution at artificial immersion pond in Mumbai

Mumbai, Sep 20 (UNI) A 19-year-old contractual worker died due to electrocution after suffering an electric shock inside an artificial idol immersion pond at Shyamnagar Talao in Jogeshwari (East) today.
The deceased has been identified as Rohit Bhimu Rathod.
According to information provided by the Assistant Commissioner, K/North ward, five artificial immersion ponds had been set up at Shyam Nagar Lake for Ganesh idol immersion. Four of the five ponds were closed after midnight.
The incident occurred around 00.20 a.m. when the worker, appointed by the contractor, entered one of the already closed artificial ponds for idol immersion and came in contact with live electric current.
He was immediately shifted to the Trauma Care Hospital, where he was declared dead, police said.
Confirming the incident, PSI Shri Khade of Meghwadi Police Station said an Accidental Death Report (ADR) has been registered and further investigation is underway to ascertain the cause of the electrocution.
