Mumbai, June 14 (UNI) Prahar organisation president Bachchu Kadu ended his seven-day hunger strike on Saturday following an assurance from the Maharashtra government on his demand of loan waiver for farmers.
Bachchu Kadu had been protesting for a week in Amravati, demanding a farmer loan waiver along with solutions for various issues faced by disabled persons and other related demands.
Industry Minister Uday Samant met Bachchu Kadu at Gurukunj Mozri in Amravati district and assured him that the state government has taken a significant step regarding the long-pending issue of farmers loan waiver.
Samant urged Kadu to call off the agitation, and in response, Kadu paused his hunger strike by consuming a glass of fruit juice and agreeing to postpone the protest.
The government’s move to form a committee signals a potential breakthrough in addressing the grievances of farmers and other affected groups in Maharashtra.
Speaking on the occasion, Samant announced that a committee will be formed within 15 days to examine the matter, and a decision on the loan waiver will be made based on the committee’s report.
Following this assurance, Bachchu Kadu ended his seven-day hunger strike.
On Friday, BJP state president and minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule visited Amravati and met with Kadu.
After understanding the demands, Bawankule consulted Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
