Maha: BMC opens Participate Mumbai platform with over 450 civic projects for CSR partners

Mumbai, Oct 6 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today welcomed the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's newly launched Participate Mumbai initiative, saying the impact generated by civic projects was more important than the amount of money invested in them.
Speaking to reporters here, Fadnavis described Participate Mumbai as a significant initiative through which the BMC has created a platform to facilitate Corporate Social Responsibility activities. He said the civic body would list various initiatives on the platform, enabling interested CSR partners to identify and participate in projects across Mumbai.
The initiative is intended to provide a structured mechanism for CSR partners and other stakeholders to collaborate with the civic administration on projects in the city. Fadnavis said organisations interested in participating would be able to connect with projects already listed on the platform. Organisations would also have the option of proposing and submitting their own initiatives through the platform.
Highlighting the role of CSR partnerships, Fadnavis said an agreement worth Rs 25 crore had already been signed. He said an agreement had been reached on how the interface could be changed and informed that work through CSR had been undertaken for more than a decade.
Fadnavis said government mechanisms sometimes lacked the flexibility required for such work and stressed that the success of projects should ultimately be judged by the impact they create rather than simply by the amount invested.
The Participate Mumbai initiative was launched at the BMC headquarters in the presence of Fadnavis, Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde and other leaders.
The platform will provide information on more than 450 civic projects and requirements across Mumbai. Interested partners will be able to select projects according to their areas of interest, CSR objectives, technical capabilities, experience and available resources.
The initiative is designed to establish a formal platform for cooperation between the civic administration, CSR partners and other stakeholders, allowing them to contribute resources towards projects addressing Mumbai's civic requirements and other facilities.
The launch is part of the civic administration's efforts to improve services and broaden collaboration with private and institutional partners for projects across Mumbai.
