Maha: Nandurbar tribal farmers hold protest march over drought compensation, forest rights claims

Nandurbar, Oct 5 (UNI) Tribal farmers from the Satpuda region of Nandurbar district staged a massive protest march in Dhadgaon on Monday, demanding immediate action on their long-pending demands.
Hundreds of tribal farmers from across the Satpuda region participated in the march, drawing the administration’s attention to issues concerning drought compensation, farmer identity cards and forest rights claims.
The protesters demanded that pending drought compensation be released immediately, farmer IDs be issued without further delay, and all pending forest rights claims be disposed of at the earliest. They also urged that employment opportunities under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) be provided immediately.
