Maha: One arrested in Mumbai cloud kitchen AC compressor blast case; 2 died, 6 injured

Mumbai, June 14 (UNI) The city police on Saturday arrested the owner of an air-conditioner repairing firm after two people died and at least six others were sustained injuries in the fire that erupted due to blast of an AC compressor at a cloud kitchen in central Mumbai.
The fire broke out following the blast of compressor of an AC unit while it was being repaired at a cloud kitchen in Mahim area of central Mumbai on Friday.
The deceased were identified as Noor Alam Sheikh (38) and Praveen Kumar Pujari (28), while Mukesh Gupta, Shiv Mohan Patel, Dipali Godatkar, Sana Shaikh, Sri Devi and Kamlesh Jaiswal sustained burn injuries.
Early on Saturday, the Mahim police arrested Ashok Naik, the owner of Crystal Aircon, on charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
Police investigation revealed that Ashok Naik had sent untrained workers from his company to carry out the hazardous repair job, allegedly without providing them with any safety equipment or measures.
The Mahim Police have registered a case under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 105 (culpable homicide), 125(a), 125(e), 288, 289, and 324(5).
