Manipur DGP inaugurates sports complex

Thoubal (Manipur), Oct 17 (UNI) Director General of Police (DGP) Mukesh Singh on Saturday inaugurated the newly developed Sports Complex of Thoubal District Police at the Police Reserve Line, Khangabok.
The facility was built on the initiative of the Superintendent of Police, Thoubal, as part of the district police’s efforts to promote the welfare, physical fitness and well-being of its personnel.
The inauguration was marked by exhibition badminton matches on the newly installed courts. Singh played in the matches alongside senior police officers and players of the Manipur Police Badminton Team.
Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) I.K. Muivah and other senior officers, along with officers and personnel from various units, attended the programme.
As part of the 135th Manipur Police Raising Day celebrations, Thoubal District Police is also holding a badminton tournament at the new complex from October 17 to 19. Twenty teams from law-enforcement agencies, including Manipur Police, Manipur Rifles, India Reserve Battalions (IRB) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), are taking part.
The complex is meant to give police personnel a dedicated facility for regular physical activity, recreation and competitive sports. The district police said the initiative reflects its emphasis on fitness, camaraderie, team spirit and personnel welfare, and gives personnel of different police and security units a platform to interact.
