Modern infra expanding in Delhi: Shah dedicates three projects worth crores, including Barapullah- lll

New Delhi, Sep 29 (UNI) union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday dedicated development projects worth Rs 1,941 crore to the residents of the national capital which also included the ambitious Barapullah Elevated Road Phase- lll.
Shah also inaugurated the Underpass at the Mukarba Chowk, and laid foundation stones for the construction of the Modi Mill- Savitri Cinema flyover and the underpass at Loni.
The projects were inaugurated under the under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.
The HM has said that these projects are aimed towards strengthening Delhi's connectivity and make travel easier for residents.
He said the Barapullah Elevated Road Phase-III, built at a cost of Rs 1,635 crore, was dedicated to Delhi residents, and will provide signal-free connectivity between East and South Delhi, making commuting smoother, providing relief from traffic jams, and saving travel time.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Shah, saying that better coordination and cooperation between the Central and Delhi governments was giving a fresh push to modern, robust and citizen-centric infrastructure in the national capital.
According to CM, the Delhi Government is working to create a strong network of roads, flyovers, underpasses and elevated corridors to make travel between different parts of the city easier, reduce traffic pressure and save commuters' time.
The projects inaugurated and launched on Tuesday are an important step in this direction, Gupta added.
Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra, MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, Delhi Government Cabinet Ministers Parvesh Sahib Singh, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Kapil Mishra and Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh, along with several MLAs, senior officials and other dignitaries, were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, speaking on the occasion, PWD Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh said that Tuesday was an important day for Delhi's infrastructure, and the inauguration of Barapullah Phase-III and the Mukarba Chowk Underpass, along with the foundation stones for the Loni Underpass and Savitri Cinema-Modi Mill Flyover, marked important steps towards improving connectivity in Delhi.
He said dedicating these projects to the people of Delhi under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, which is being observed on the occasion of PM Modi's birthday was a special moment.
He thanked Shah for his support in taking the vision of a Viksit Delhi forward on the ground.
Being operational, the Barapullah Elevated Road Phase- lll will strengthen signal-free connectivity from Mayur Vihar Phase-I through Sarai Kale Khan to South Delhi and the AIIMS area.
The nearly 10.9-km elevated corridor connects to the existing Barapullah network, and the project has nine loops to facilitate the smooth movement of traffic in different directions.
Notably, separate facilities have also been developed for pedestrians and cyclists in this project, and will provide better connectivity for people travelling to and from East Delhi, South-East Delhi and Noida and help reduce traffic pressure on major routes.
Meanwhile, the Mukarba Chowk Underpass has been constructed to make traffic movement on the Outer Ring Road smoother, and the project includes two vehicular underpasses and one pedestrian underpass.
The foundation stone has also been laid for a new parallel flyover at the Savitri Cinema junction. The proposed flyover aims to reduce traffic pressure around the Outer Ring Road and GK-2 Road and provide a smoother route for vehicles travelling towards Nehru Place, Okhla and surrounding areas, PWD Minister added.
