Nana Patekar’s death a major loss to film, theatre and social sector: Girish Mahajan

Nashik, Oct 8 (UNI) The death of veteran actor Nana Patekar is a major loss not only to the film and theatre industry but also to the social sector, Maharashtra Water Resources and Disaster Management Minister and Nashik Guardian Minister Girish Mahajan said on Thursday.
Expressing grief over the actor’s demise, Mahajan said that Nana Patekar had left an indelible mark on the hearts of audiences through his acting over several decades. “The void created by his passing can never be filled,” he said.
Mahajan said Patekar had brought extraordinary depth and realism to the diverse characters he portrayed. His natural acting, powerful dialogue delivery and ability to give life to every character earned him a distinct place in both the Marathi and Hindi film industries.
“Nana Patekar was not merely a great actor but also a sensitive personality deeply committed to society,” Mahajan said. He recalled Patekar’s initiatives during droughts, earthquakes and other natural disasters, particularly his social work through the Naam Foundation in areas such as water conservation, water availability and rural development.
Mahajan also highlighted Patekar’s simple lifestyle and his warm interaction with ordinary people despite his stature as a celebrated actor. His constant desire to contribute to the welfare of underprivileged sections of society, he said, was a defining aspect of his personality.
“With Nana Patekar’s demise, the fields of art and social service have lost a sensitive and accomplished personality,” Mahajan said, praying for eternal peace for the departed soul and expressing condolences to his family, friends and countless admirers.
