NCRTC wins ‘Best Exhibitor’ award at UMI 2026 for second consecutive year

Bhubaneswar, Oct 27(UNI) The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has won the ‘Best Exhibitor’ award for the second consecutive year at the 19th Urban Mobility India (UMI) Conference and Expo 2026, which concluded in Bhubaneswar.
The corporation also received recognition for passenger services and satisfaction on the Delhi–Meerut Namo Bharat corridor, highlighting the growing role of regional rapid transit in transforming public transportation.
Since the phased commencement of operations in October 2023, the Namo Bharat corridor has recorded more than 4.8 crore passenger journeys and currently serves over 1.1 lakh commuters daily. The corridor has also registered its highest-ever single-day ridership of more than 1.68 lakh passengers, reflecting the increasing adoption of regional rail for everyday travel.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently cited the corridor as an example of effective project execution, commending its adherence to timelines and its operational speed of 160 kmph. He also highlighted the train service’s punctuality rate of 99.9 per cent.
The Delhi–Meerut Namo Bharat corridor has significantly reduced travel time between Delhi, Ghaziabad and Meerut, making regional journeys more convenient for commuters. Its comfortable, air-conditioned coaches, punctual services, modern stations and convenient interchange facilities have improved accessibility for people travelling for work, education, business and other purposes.
The service also offers an alternative to road travel, particularly during periods of heavy traffic congestion and extreme weather conditions. Its integration with other public transport systems, including the Metro, Indian Railways, interstate bus terminals and city bus services, further enhances connectivity across the region.
A key feature of the corridor is the integration of Meerut Metro services over the same infrastructure, an initiative that strengthens urban and regional connectivity while enabling more efficient use of transport facilities.
Adding to the recognition for its passenger services, NCRTC secured the first prize in the exhibition category at UMI 2026. Its exhibition showcased the development of the Delhi–Meerut Namo Bharat corridor and its contribution to transforming regional mobility.
The display highlighted the corridor’s modern infrastructure, advanced technologies, multimodal integration and Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) initiatives. It also presented the role of Namo Bharat in improving connectivity and supporting a more integrated and accessible public transport network.
With this achievement, NCRTC has won the ‘Best Exhibitor’ award at the Urban Mobility India Conference and Expo for the second year in a row, reinforcing its presence at the national platform for urban transport innovation and sustainable mobility.
