Tripura undertakes Rs 638.65 cr infra projects in six months

Agartala, June 27 (UNI) Development projects of over Rs 638.65 crore have either been initiated or completed in last six months in Tripura, which had never happened earlier in the state, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said here today.
Addressing a gathering, Dr Saha said development has no end and it’s a dynamic process, but Tripura has witnessed a boost of infrastructure in the seven years of BJP rule in the state. The government has given priority to education, health, communication, and the overall development of the tribal under the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Besides the creation of infrastructure, special emphasis has been given to self-reliance and empowerment of women. Before 2018, there were 4,500 self-help groups in the state. Now, there are about 56,000 self-help groups, and all of them are involved in income-generating activities.

Hawkers stages protest in front of Meghalaya secretariat

Shillong, July 1 (UNI) As the Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) intensifies its crackdown on unauthorised hawkers at Khyndai Lad area, a large number of aggrieved hawkers today
gathered outside the gate of the Meghalaya secretariat building to protest against the civic
eviction drive.

The protesting hawkers under the banner of Meghalaya and Greater Shillong Progressive
Hawkers and Street Vendors Association (MGSPHSVA) termed the eviction drive carried
out by the SMB in Khyndai Lad, a commercial hub here in Meghalaya, as “unilateral” and
“illegal”.

Mizoram University secures A+ grade in latest NAAC accreditation
