Swift action in Jamui, Samastipur incidents, no criminal will be spared: Choudhary

Patna, Sep 24 (UNI) Bihar Food and Consumer Protection Minister Ashok Choudhary on Thursday said accused in the Jamui incident were arrested within 24 hours and those involved in the Samastipur incident were apprehended within 12 hours, demonstrating the state government's commitment to taking action against crime.
Choudhary said no one involved in such heinous incidents would be spared and strict action would be ensured against those found guilty.
Talking to mediapersons after a public grievance hearing programme at the Janata Dal (United) state office here, he said the government was fully sensitive to incidents of crime and prompt action was being taken against the accused.
He said Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had established the rule of law in Bihar in 2005 and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government was working to carry forward the same system under the leadership of Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary.
The minister said the government would make no compromise in taking action against criminals.
Prohibition, Excise and Registration Minister Madan Sahni and Social Welfare Minister Shweta Gupta also heard the grievances of people from different districts during the public hearing.
Officials concerned were directed to take lawful and prompt action on applications and complaints submitted by the petitioners.
Sahni said the government was continuously taking action against those involved in liquor smuggling and cases had also been registered against liquor companies.
He said the prohibition policy was introduced in Bihar by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar with a specific objective and claimed that its positive impact was visible in society.
Citing a survey, he claimed that 93 per cent of respondents had expressed support for prohibition.
Sahni said women and poor and working families in rural areas had benefited the most from prohibition.
On the occasion, Shweta Gupta said the NDA government was fully committed to the safety of women and girls. She said the swift arrests in the Jamui and Samastipur incidents demonstrated the government's approach towards crime.
She said the government followed a policy of zero tolerance towards crime and there would be no compromise on women''s safety. Strict action under the law would be taken against those found guilty.
