Odisha bamboo farmers get market boost with PRAMAAN Certification

Bhubaneswar, Sep 29 (UNI) Odisha’s bamboo farmers have received a major market boost with farm-grown bamboo being awarded Programme for Recognition and Accreditation of Sustainable Management Practices for Agroforestry and Natural Forestry Resources (PRAMAAN) certification under the Indian Forest & Wood Certification Scheme (IFWCS).
The certificate was awarded by union Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Bhupender Yadav and received by bamboo farmer Gobinda Mahapatra of Mayurbhanj and Karthick V, Mission Director, Odisha Bamboo Development Agency (OBDA), in the presence of senior ministry officials.
The certification covers 14.03 hectares across four plots in Gobardhansul and Ranibhol under the Trees Outside Forests Management and Chain of Custody (TOFM-CoC) framework. The certified species include Bambusa vulgaris, Bambusa nutans and Dendrocalamus strictus, which are commercially used in construction and furniture.
