Rajnath Singh, Nitin Nabin to hold key BJP meetings in Bengal

Kolkata, Sep 14 (UNI) Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and BJP national president Nitin Nabin are scheduled to visit West Bengal on 16 September and are expected to hold a meeting with members of the state BJP’s core committee.
Significantly, National General Secretary (organisation) BL Santosh will also be in the state during the period, leading to a series of organisational meetings ahead of the upcoming elections.
Nabin is scheduled to arrive in Bengal on September 15 on a two-day visit.
This will be his first visit to the state after the announcement of the BJP’s new central committee.
During his stay, he is expected to attend organisational meetings at different levels and take stock of the party’s preparedness across the state.
According to BJP sources, discussions will focus, among other issues, on the party’s month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, scheduled to be held across Bengal from September 17 to October 17.
The programme is being organised as part of the party’s wider organisational and outreach activities.
Nabin’s visit is not expected to remain confined to Kolkata and its adjoining areas.
The BJP had planned organisational programmes across different parts of the state, including North Bengal and South Bengal.
His itinerary was expected to cover areas such as the hills, Terai and Dooars, besides several districts in southern Bengal.
The BJP leadership is keen to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level ahead of the elections and assess its preparedness on the ground.
Nabin is expected to hold region-wise organisational meetings with state and district leaders as well as functionaries at different levels.
Party sources said the BJP national president would seek detailed feedback on the functioning of the organisation, particularly at the booth level.
Issues concerning organisational weaknesses, gaps in electoral preparedness and areas requiring greater attention are also expected to come up for discussion.
The presence of Nabin, Santosh and Singh in Bengal at the same time has assumed significance within the party.
The meetings are expected to focus on strengthening the organisational machinery and assessing the BJP’s grassroots position before the electoral battle.
The latest round of organisational activity comes at a time when the BJP is seeking to consolidate its presence across Bengal and sharpen its election strategy ahead of civic polls.
