The Chief Minister said that paddy procurement for the Kharif Marketing Year 2026–27 would begin in the state on 15 November. The state government is establishing 360 new paddy procurement centres to reduce the distance farmers need to travel to sell their produce and provide them with better facilities at procurement centres.
He said that the new centres would make it easier for farmers to sell their produce. Necessary arrangements are being made to ensure a more convenient, transparent and orderly paddy procurement process.
Chief Minister Sai said that the state government is working to ensure that no farmer faces unnecessary difficulties in selling paddy. Farmers’ convenience, fair returns for their hard work and timely payments are among the government’s priorities.
Chief Minister Sai said that making farming more profitable is essential for a sustained increase in farmers’ income. With this objective, the state government is paying special attention to expanding irrigation facilities, promoting modern agricultural technology and developing new opportunities for agriculture based livelihoods.
He said that activities such as organic farming, natural farming, horticulture, animal husbandry and fisheries are being encouraged alongside traditional farming. These activities would provide farmers with additional sources of income and strengthen the rural economy.
