President Murmu to attend Bastar Dussehra in Jagdalpur

Raipur, Sep 29 (UNI) President Droupadi Murmu will attend the Bastar Dussehra celebrations in Jagdalpur on October 23 following an invitation from Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai.
Murmu will participate in the traditional Muria Darbar, one of the key events of Bastar Dussehra. Her visit will bring national attention to Bastar's distinctive tribal traditions and community practices. The invitation was conveyed to the President in the presence of union Minister Tokhan Sahu, Culture and Tourism Minister Rajesh Agrawal, Bastar MP Mahesh Kashyap and Culture and Tourism Department Secretary S. Bharati Dasan.
Muria Darbar is one of the most important events associated with Bastar Dussehra, the long-standing festival dedicated to Goddess Danteshwari. Unlike a conventional public function, it reflects Bastar's traditional system of community dialogue, bringing together local representatives, traditional leaders and members of different communities. The roles of Manjhi and Chalki have traditionally been part of Bastar's social and cultural life. Murmu had referred to their importance during her interaction with a Bastar delegation in July.
