Haryana Police seize 20 kg poppy husk, one kg opium in Karnal; two held

Panchkula, Sep 19 (UNI) Haryana Police have arrested two men in separate drug-trafficking cases in Karnal and recovered 20.345 kg of poppy husk and 1.027 kg of opium from their possession, a Haryana Police spokesperson said on Saturday.
In the first case, a CIA Assandh team arrested Ravinder of Kheri Sarfali village in Assandh and allegedly recovered 20.345 kg of poppy husk from him. A case was registered at Assandh police station under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act. A court remanded him in police custody for four days.
In a separate operation, CIA-1 Karnal arrested Preetpal Singh of Bansa village in Karnal district and allegedly recovered 1.027 kg of opium from his possession, the spokesperson said.
During preliminary questioning, Preetpal allegedly told police that he was involved in the sale and trafficking of opium to make quick money. He was produced before a court, which remanded him to five days' police custody.
The Haryana Police spokesperson said both accused were being questioned to trace the source and supply network of the contraband and identify others allegedly involved in the drug trade.
The operations were carried out as part of the anti-narcotics drive under the supervision of Karnal Superintendent of Police Karan Goel.
