CM inaugurates Himachal's first women's de-addiction centre at Mashobra

Shimla, June 8 (UNI) Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday inaugurated Himachal Pradesh's first government-run women's de-addiction and rehabilitation centre, 'Nav Jeevan', at Mashobra near Shimla, describing drug abuse as a major social and humanitarian challenge requiring both compassion for victims and strict action against traffickers.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the Chief Minister said the growing menace of drug abuse, particularly the use of chitta (heroin), could not be viewed merely as a law-and-order issue.
He said the problem was affecting families and society at large and the government was tackling it through public awareness campaigns as well as stringent measures against those involved in drug trafficking.
