UP’s local products to hit retail stores, Amazon, Flipkart and Quick-Commerce Platforms

Lucknow, Oct 26 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Small Industries Corporation (UPSIDC) has proposed launching a new scheme for marketing ODOP/ODOC (One District One Product, and ODOC stands for One District One Cuisine) products under the Corporation's Marketing Assistance Scheme.
Under this scheme, products from various districts of the state will be delivered to customers through retail stores, online stores, e-commerce websites like Amazon and Flipkart, and quick commerce platforms like Blinkit and Zepto.
The 269th Board of Directors and AGM of the Uttar Pradesh Small Industries Corporation (UPSIDC) was held here on Monday under the chairmanship of Corporation Chairman Pravesh Verma. All directors and other officials of the Corporation were present.
Important decisions were taken to provide a wider market for the state's local products. According to officials, the scheme will provide better markets and new business opportunities to micro, small, and medium-sized entrepreneurs. Additionally, a new source of income will be developed for the Corporation.
The name "Shilpit" has been proposed for branding the products. The plan will be implemented in a phased manner. In its initial pilot phase, the Corporation will begin selling ODOP/ODOC products from two retail stores.
Under the plan, stores will be established in Lucknow and Kanpur in the first phase, while warehouses are planned in Agra and Moradabad in the next phase. Through these centers, the collection, storage, and supply system of local products will be strengthened.
Based on the experience gained from operating the initial stores, online and offline stores will be expanded further. The Corporation will ship products from its warehouses to its online store as well as e-commerce and instant commerce platforms such as Amazon, Flipkart, Blinkit, and Zepto.
Under the plan, sales and demand for products will be continuously assessed. New stores and warehouses will be selected based on sales volume. Product cataloging, inventory, and product volume will also be determined based on this basis. This will help ensure the availability of high-demand products.
In the future, the "Shilpit" brand stores are planned to be operated by the corporation and also offered to private operators on a franchise model. Products will be supplied to franchise stores from the corporation's warehouses.
The plan also proposes a payment system for entrepreneurs. The corporation will pay entrepreneurs within a week. Additionally, a system for taking back unsold stock will be established. This will reduce the risk for local product manufacturers and small entrepreneurs in launching their products.
Through this new initiative, efforts will be made to expand the local market for traditional, handicraft, food, and other ODOP/ODOC products produced in various districts of the state and connect them with the larger digital and modern retail market. This is expected to increase the reach of products and provide new customers and business opportunities to small entrepreneurs in the state.
